We are The Ornamental Book Co.
Founded in 2025 by veterans of the Faux Book industry with a mission to shout as loudly as possible about the beauty and ease of decorative faux book spines. We use hand-painted reproduction antique and vintage spines that are made in the UK by craftsmen with a combined 100+ years of experience making authentic reproductions.

What are False Books?
With over 200 years of history, Faux Books started being used by the early Victorians to conceal library doors. Now, using modern methods and materials, we can provide unrivalled levels of customisation to your next Faux Book project.

What can our books do?
All of our projects are completely bespoke and made-to-order. That means every hand-painted inch is unique to you and your decorative books. No request is too outlandish, so don’t be scared to ask!
Colour
Every interior is different, and the books that line your walls impact how the room feels. Because our spines are hand-painted we can work to any combination of colours you desire.
Size & Shape
Every space has unique dimensions, and we make sure your decorative spines fit it perfectly. Thin, thick, on the ceiling, on a curve - our books can do what real books can't.
Titles
With laser engraving technology we can customise book titles at lightning speed. Whether it's a corporate logo or your own name, we can engrave it on a spine.
Style
We've had some crazy requests in the past - our decorative spines can be arranged in many different ways - like bricks, spirals, get creative with your requests!

How much does it cost?
We like to keep our pricing transparent. Our spines are the highest quality you’ll find, and while making them by hand is labour intensive we try to keep our prices as accessible as possible. We want everyone to have faux books.
By the Square Metre
We have one single price for all of our colours and styles.
£700 + VAT.
By the Linear Metre
£230 + VAT.
Price Match Guarantee
We want everyone to experience how stunning our ornamental books are. If you've had a cheaper quote from another Faux Books supplier let us know and we guarantee we'll beat it.
